Chan Tung Mui suffers from cerebral palsy which affected her speech and motor functions, but this did not stop her from learning to paint with her feet. Her heart-warming artworks exude energy and vitality, spreading messages of love that have touched the lives of many.
Tung Mui studied Commercial Graphic Design at the First Institute of Art & Design, as well as Design and illustration at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is a student painter of “The Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Worldwide (AMFPA) Hong Kong”. In 2009 she travelled to Japan to study the art of calligraphy, flower arrangement and weaving.
Tung Mui was awarded the honour of “The Outstanding Disabled Persons” in 2004, and is frequently invited to schools, churches and welfare organizations to paint in front of children and share with them her experiences, at the same time inspiring and encouraging her audience to overcome their limitations. Tung Mui showcased her works at several solo exhibitions, with the most notable one being “My Heart. My Poem. My Path”. She also participated in numerous local and overseas joint exhibitions such as the “1st International Festival of Inclusive Arts 2006 - Inclusive Arts Exhibitions”, and regularly attends exchange events in the US and Canada. She hopes one day to volunteer in China to assist children with disabilities.
