Roger Wan is a passionate photographer and specialises in portrait photography. He contracted poliomyelitis at a young age which confined him to a wheelchair. He is the first Hong Kong recipient of the gold medal in the portrait competition at the 2003 6th International Ambilympics hosted by India. Upon winning, he shared that “if you are willing to work hard and dedicate yourself to lifelong learning, you will achieve your goals. I am glad that I have shown the world that Hong Kong people are capable of winning gold medals.”
By arrangement of ADA, Roger mentored under professional photographer Mr. Alain Yip to elevate his photography skills. He is an enthusiastic promoter of inclusive arts by actively participating in various photography competitions and exhibitions. Between 2005 to 2009, he served as an ADA workshop instructor and lecturer, touring schools and various organizations to teach photography and share his life story.
